Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hard surfaces

A comeback Medvedev claimed his initial trophy for 882 days with a win over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The Russian, a ex- world number one, has endured a torrid year, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the US Open.

Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in specific - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with long-time coach his previous coach.

Presently collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the past month - culminating in a closely contested three-set victory over opponent Moutet.

This marks the player's maiden championship following the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt since that period of the previous year.

Victory also indicates Medvedev has achieved twenty-one titles at 21 various tournaments.

"It's the first time I am participating in a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the initial championship I got when my child my daughter was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, including in the German tournament in the past months.

Medvedev's defensive play style and regular outbursts on the tennis court had prompted commentators to doubt if his skill to compete at the highest level was concluded.

But the athlete has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to come to the net and perform assertively, backed up by an improved serving game.

The champion came back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky opponent, securing four of the final five points to gain the advantage.

The competitors swapped service breaks in the second set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden professional championship, seized the initiative to force a final set.

Moutet defended four initial opportunities in a close third set before Medvedev secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.

Suitably, the winner clinched the title with a rally at the net, with his opponent incapable to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
